SENIORS

COLLEGE REPRESENTATIVES:

  1. EMBRY RIDDLE UNIVERSITY:  Seniors & Juniors: a representative from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University will be here in Room 109 on September 29th during 5th period.  Come to the Guidance Office for a pass to attend.
  2. SAN JUAQUIN VALLEY COLLEGE: Seniors & Juniors:  a representative from San Juaquin Valley College, a vocational school, will be here to talk about medical, criminal justice and industrial tech. careers.  He will be in Room 109 on September 29th during period 3.  Come to the Guidance Office for a pass to attend.
  3. UC MERCED:  Seniors and Juniors – a representative from UC Merced will be here to talk about the UC system, majors, scholarships, financial aide and student life.  He will be in Room 109 on September 28th during period 5.  Come to the Guidance Office for a pass to attend. (Lozano)

 

SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY:  One thousand dollar Shout it Out Scholarship is for students who are legal residents and who are planning to enroll in an accredited post-high school institution of higher learning. You must submit an essay of 250 words or less on the topic "If you could say one thing to the entire world at once, what would it be and why?".  The deadline is September 30th. Come to the Guidance Office for more information. (Lozano)

 

SCHOLARSHIP BULLETIN NOTICE:  The September scholarship bulletin is available in the Guidance Office or on the school website. (Lozano)

 

SENIOR LUNCH PASS DEADLINE:  The last day to turn in the Senior Off Campus Lunch Pass Applications is tomorrow Friday, September 10th, at 3:00. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!! (Coltin)

 

SENIOR YEARBOOK PICTURES:  Any senior that has not made an appointment with O’Connor Photography to have their senior picture taken for the yearbook, please call for an appointment on 940-5657. The deadline for appointments is October 16th.  If you have any questions, come to the Activities Office. (Stewart) 

 

CLUBS

ANIME CLUB:  The Anime Club will have a meeting today after school in Room 524. (Miller)

 

HARRY POTTER:  Do you like Harry Potter?  Come to the informational meeting today Thursday, September 9th, after school in Room 105 to join the Harry Potter Club. Muggles welcome!

 

HOMERUN CLUB:  Interested in baseball?  All students interested in baseball this school year, there will be a mandatory Homerun Club meeting today Thursday, September 9th. Meeting will be held in Room 221 with the Club Advisor Mr. Mobley during A lunch and after school. (Mobley)

 

SPORTS

NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE WORKSHOP:  There will be a NCAA Clearinghouse Parent Workshop on Wednesday, November 17th, at 6:00 pm in the Staff Lounge. (Robertson)

 

GENERAL

BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT:  Back –To- School Night will be on Thursday, September 16th, at 6:30 pm, so mark your calendars and urge your parents to attend. (Ortega)

 

LADY FIREFIGHERS:  Ladies, did you know that a firefighting career is not just for men anymore?  If you think you would like to be a firefighter, then you will be happy to know that there will be a free Firefighter Career Expo in Orange County on Saturday, October 2nd, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.  See Mrs. Ortega in the Guidance Office for more information. HIGHLAND PLAYERS FUNDRAISER:  Highland Players' is sponsoring a fundraiser at Baja Fresh on this Saturday Sept. 11th. Only $5 for a car wash in the lot next to the restaurant! So get your car washed and then stop in for a nice lunch! If you have something to eat between 10:30 am and 9 pm they will donate a percentage of the proceeds to our club, to help promote Highland Theatre Projects. Stop in P-3 to get a flyer (it only counts if you present one!) See you there, and thanks for your support Bulldogs! (Self)

 

TUTORING:  Are you struggling in Science? Are you ready to tear your hair out because Math is so hard? Worry no more. Your Math and Science teachers feel your pain and do not want you to suffer anymore, so they have graciously offered their free time in the form of tutoring.  Do not wait to take advantage of free help.  The tutoring schedule is available in the Guidance Office. SALUTE TO YOUTH – THE CAREER CONNECTION:

On Friday, September 24th, Salute to Youth will be held at Plant 42 from 11:00 to 12:30.  If you are a Senior or a Junior and still want to attend Salute to Youth on Friday, September 24th, there is still time to pick up a permission form.  The deadline has been moved to Friday, September 10th. (Stewart)
