CALIFORNIA
SCHOLARSHIP FEDERATION
California Scholarship Federation (CSF) is a state governed scholastic
organization that is open to high school students who meet the academic
requirements. Students must apply for membership at the beginning of
each semester based on the grades earned the previous semester.
Membership and participation in CSF is a great way to meet like minded
students and contribute to the community and your campus. Involvement
during all four years looks great on your college applications and may
even lead to scholarship money. Membership in CSF is the means to
earning Gold Seal Bearer status and wearing a Gold Robe at graduation.
To
qualify for CSF membership each semester, follow these guidelines:
1.
You must earn a
minimum of 10 points
from the previous semester’s grades.
a.
The first
4 points must be from
LIST 1 (unless you are a
senior applying for
membership in Feb or
June).
b.
The first
7 points (including the
four points described in a. must be from
LISTS I and II.
c.
The remaining points may come from any LIST (I, II, or III).
d.
It is perfectly
acceptable for all points to come from List I
2.
You must use no more than
5 courses to qualify.
3.
No CSF points are given
for physical education, courses taken in lieu of physical education,
subjects repeated to
improve a grade, courses involving clerking and office/teaching
assisting, and courses
taken for a pass/fail.
4.
CSF points are granted as follows:
One additional point shall be granted for a grade of A or B in an
AP, IB or Honors course,
up to a maximum of two
such points per semester.
-
a grade of C = 0 CSF points
-
a grade of D or F in any course, even in one you cannot use to
qualify, disqualifies you from membership for that semester.
Additional Information:
1.
Semester membership is based on work done in the
previous semester. (Under
very limited
circumstances summer school may also be used; you should check
with your advisor
before listing any summer school work).
2.
You must reapply
each semester.
3.
The application period is usually the first three weeks of each
semester. The deadline for
applications will be announced in the bulletin and will be firmly
adhered to.
4.
Courses you may use are divided into LISTS I, II, and III.
5.
Gold Seal Bearer status and the Gold Robe at graduation require 4
semesters of
membership based on 6 possible semesters of the sophomore,
junior, and senior years.
Semesters start counting with application the middle of the
sophomore year.
6.
One semester of senior grades is mandatory.
7.
First semester freshman may join as Associate Members if they
have a certificate from
CJSF. Second semester freshman and first semester sophomores may
also join as
Associate members.
8.
All applications must include a copy of your report card (showing
classes and grades) and
the appropriate dues.
